A Story from the Vineyard: From Hong Kong to Cappadocia with Faruk

At Kismet Cave Mansion, we believe that the true magic of Cappadocia lies not just in its fairy chimneys, but in its people and traditions. Recently, we had the pleasure of hosting a wonderful group of guests from Hong Kong who were eager to experience authentic local life.

Our father, Faruk, invited them to join him for a special excursion to our family vineyard. It wasn't just a tour; it was a hands-on experience steeped in tradition. Under the warm Cappadocian sun, they learned the delicate art of picking vine leaves—a crucial step in preparing one of our most beloved dishes, "Yaprak Sarma" (stuffed vine leaves).

A Taste of Tradition

Faruk shared stories of his childhood, explaining how generations of our family have tended to these vines. He taught our guests how to select the tenderest leaves, perfect for rolling. The connection formed over the simple act of harvesting was heartwarming, bridging cultures through a shared appreciation for nature and food.

That evening, the gathered leaves were transformed in our kitchen. Our guests watched—and even helped—as the leaves were stuffed with a savory mix of rice, herbs, and spices. The highlight of the dinner was, of course, the homemade dolma they had helped create.

This experience reminded us all that travel is about connection. It's about breaking bread (or dolma!) together and sharing stories that transcend borders. We invite you to join us at Kismet Cave Mansion, not just as a guest, but as part of our extended family.
